Broadcasts: API support for creating and sending broadcast campaigns
A
AfterSchool Team
Business Problem
Teams that rely on automation and API-driven workflows use broadcasts as a key channel to engage and nurture subscribers at scale. While sending messages via API is already part of our workflow, creating broadcast campaigns still requires multiple manual steps in the UI, which becomes inefficient as broadcast frequency and volume increase.
Current Limitation
Broadcast campaigns can only be created and configured through the interface. This makes it time-consuming and error-prone to run broadcasts regularly, especially for teams that already manage subscriber engagement programmatically.
Desired Outcome
Provide API support that allows teams to:
- Create broadcast campaigns programmatically
- Define core campaign settings via API (audience, message content, scheduling, etc.)
- Trigger or send broadcasts directly through API calls
Impact
- Operational efficiency: Reduces manual setup and repetitive UI work
- Automation: Enables seamless integration with internal systems and workflows
- Reliability: Minimizes manual errors during campaign setup
- Scalability: Supports frequent and large-scale broadcast usage

Broadcast API & MCP Support for Programmatic Campaign Sending
Harshita Phadtare
Currently, the Broadcasts module in respond.io is only accessible via the Web App UI there is no API endpoint or MCP action available to trigger or manage broadcasts programmatically.
This is a significant limitation for marketing teams looking to automate campaign workflows. Specifically, we want to enable a marketing person to send broadcasts through the respond.io MCP integration, without needing to manually log into the UI each time.
What we're requesting:
- A Broadcast API endpoint that allows creating and sending broadcasts to a defined contact segment programmatically
- A Broadcast action in the MCP so AI-assisted or automated workflows can trigger bulk messaging across supported channels (WhatsApp, Facebook, SMS, etc.)
