Business Problem:
  • As a business using VoIP calls on respond.io, I want the ability to disable inbound calls for a phone number so that I can control when customers are able to call my business
  • Currently, there is no native way to disable inbound calls. Some customers may attempt to remove the Voice App/SIP connection on the Telnyx side to block inbound calls, but this workaround may lead to unpredictable caller experience and missing call records
Desired Outcome:
  • Allow businesses to enable or disable inbound calls for a phone number directly within respond.io
  • When inbound calls are disabled, the system should reject calls cleanly (e.g. busy signal or rejection response) while maintaining proper call logs
Use Cases:
  • Temporarily stopping inbound calls during maintenance or operational changes
  • Preventing customers from calling outside of operating hours
  • Managing inbound call availability for specific numbers
Current Workaround:
Removing the Voice App/SIP connection from the number on the Telnyx side to block inbound calls, which may result in inconsistent caller experience and no call attempt logs being recorded
