Email: Capture Original Sender's Address from Intermediary-Routed Messages
Ahmed Nassar
Business problem:
- As a business, I want to capture and use the original sender's email address from messages/emails headers or body that are routed through intermediary email services (like AWS WorkMail or third-party email support software), so that I can create and map these emails to contacts accurately.
Desired outcome:
- Capture original sender's email address automatically.
- Map email to the correct contact in the database.
Use Cases:
- Incoming messages via intermediary services are accurately attributed to the original sender.
- Enhance customer relationship management by ensuring all communications are correctly associated with the respective contact.
The current workaround:
- Subscribing to a contact form service (e.g., JotForm) and embedding it on the website, combined with automation on make.com to capture the email and add the sender's name as a comment in the message. Additionally, using a tag to identify the conversation was closed for which contact.

email channel contact creation error from company email addresses

When you have an email channel (workspace / imap etc) that receives emails from your company email address ie from a website contact form all leads(emails) appear from your company and are bundled together. Also when you respond to the contact to goes back to your company address.
To avoid this when a contact is created from an email it should check to see if there is a "reply-to" address and the contact / message should be created under this email address instead of the the from address.
