Messages: Support Markup formatting in messages
KDC Tek
Business Problem:
The platform currently lacks visual support for basic markup formatting in chat messages, especially on WhatsApp. This limitation affects both sending and receiving messages with formatting such as bold, emphasis, and code. As a result, users cannot effectively highlight important text or maintain structured formatting in their conversations.
Desired Outcome:
Provide support for basic markup formatting (e.g., bold, emphasis, code) in chat messages, both for sending and receiving. Ensure that this formatting is visually rendered in the chat interface for a seamless experience.

Hi Spacenter - thank you for your request. We'd like to clarify the request further, could you share with us the use case and what are the issues you're facing?
Hope to hear from you soon!

I'm pretty sure this is referring to a bug I reported last year where WhatsApp message formatting is not displayed. For example, ASTERISK HELLO ASTERISK (I'm writing like this as Canny will auto-italise when I add *) is supposed to be bold but it is literally displayed with the asterisk.

Hi Nabilah,
The bug I reported occurs in the chat interface when communicating with a contact via WhatsApp. The issue is that the text formatting (bold, italic, etc.) is not displayed correctly.
Here are some examples of how WhatsApp text formatting should appear:

I am attaching an example of a message that was sent and how it appears both in your app and in the web interface.
Looking forward to your response.

KDC Tek would you mind telling me in what channel you would like to see the feature added? markup formatting already works most of them. Thanks!

My bad, in framing the request.
Example: WhatsApp via 360dialog (any BSP); the messages are visually on the chat screen display the markup code but does not visually translate to the required formating.

The attached message would be more UX friendly if it could have been visible like:::
