Reports: Add Contact Source Attribution
W
Wilson Tan
Problem Statement:
Users can track where conversations are opened in reports, but this data doesn’t reveal where new contacts are coming from. Without this insight, businesses can’t evaluate which channels or campaigns drive new leads, limiting their ability to optimize marketing efforts.
Desired Outcome:
Add a "Contact Source" metric in reports to track the origin of new contacts (e.g., online ads, campaigns, direct sources). Separating "Contact Source" from "Conversation Open Source" provides businesses with clearer insights into lead generation channels, enabling them to:
- Measure marketing perfromance.
- Identify top-performing channels.
- Optimize spend based on actionable data.
This feature will close a critical gap, helping businesses better understand their acquisition funnel and drive growth.

I urgently need a detailed report showing the total number of messages received from all ads running on each platform over a specific period.
Currently, the Contacts → Contacts Added report only shows the top 4 ads, and all other ads are grouped under “Others”, which prevents us from seeing the full breakdown.
Specifically, the report should include:
Campaign Level: Total messages per campaign.
Ad Group Level: Total messages per ad group.
Ad Level: Total messages per individual ad.
The data should be presented in a table format (CSV/Excel preferred), covering the period from [start date] to [end date], so we can clearly see the message volume coming from each ad, ad group, and campaign.
This is crucial for us to analyze our campaigns effectively, and we need it as soon as possible.
Thank you for your prompt support,

Hi Adam Rosli
Thank you for your request. Currently, we support retrieving the ad ID from the workflow trigger "Click to Chat Ads." This is available as a trigger variable that can be used in any step you like. However, it cannot be used to create tags yet. Instead, you can store them in a Contact Field or use them in Google Sheets, for example.
Could you please elaborate on your specific use case? Understanding how you intend to use the tracking ID tag will help us better assess your request and explore possible solutions that fit your needs.
