Business Problem
  • BSUID can change for the same WhatsApp contact under certain scenarios, such as changing to a new phone number, deleting and re-registering WhatsApp, or phone number recycling.
  • Respond.io currently does not support BSUID rotation, which can result in the same contact being treated as a different contact and a new contact record being created, while messages sent to the old BSUID will fail to deliver.
Desired Outcome
  • Allow the system to recognise a BSUID change and
    maintain the same contact record when the BSUID is rotated.
Current Workaround
  • There is currently
    no system-supported workaround
    for handling BSUID rotation.
