Use case example:
We are a clinic. We take photos from customers and share them with doctors. They can replay them after 2-5 days but reaching the customer with their photos is quite hard. So what we do is send the photos with the contact/customer ID as reference.
We were shocked that there is no way to search by contact/customer ID.
Desired outcome:
To be able to search by contact ID.
Workaround:
- To update the app.respond.io URL to include contact ID when applicable (e.g. https://app.respond.io/space/spaceId/inbox/contactId)
- This URL can also be used to open a contact's chat directly by replacing contactId with the contact's ID

how is this not higher on the priority ? I'm assuming a lot of repond users don't know about this forum to ask for features.
Searching by contact ID is a very important features, especially with companies that use multiple platforms and need identifiers to keep the flows connected.
Leads may use a different name on socials and have a different legal name, social media contacts don't have phone numbers and contacts that come through email/websites may use email as the identifier.
The only thing all these types of leads have in common is the contact id generated automatically from respond
This not being available on search is honestly missed.

We are working with transcripts more often and still cant search contacts in the platform based on contact ID

This is sorely needed! Filtering by contact ID is very important to identify the customer when other data is ambiguous. It's not difficult to do this search filter and it will help a lot to understand the causes of CSAT, for example for feedback from agents.

Yihui Chan: we are working in hair transplant. We got like a daily 20 messages. Our customers send us a photos of their head and we share this photos with our doctors.
The doctors will examine the photos and the replay with how the look will be for the customer and how much grifts they can apply.
When the doctor replay to us it takes from 2-5 days and when we got the report from them we need to tell the customer about it. And here we get lost
We canât share customer number as the unique identifier because if we do that our sales time will loose their commotions. So we are sharing the customer id and sadly we donât have the option to search for the id.
We applied a work around from the workflow but itâs very hard to apply. If you support direct search from the top it will be perfect for us
